Let the Games Begin!
21 August 2018
Designed to explore Scotland’s leading cultural game projects, our Continue Edinburgh event - arranged in partnership with agency for games culture The British Games Institute (BGI) and Riverside's own FuturePlay – was great fun and a huge success.
Taking over the University of Edinburgh Business School, we enjoyed an action-packed day of talk and play, bringing together cultural commissioners and video game developers to create new opportunities in the game and culture sectors. These included artists and game-makers Niall Moody and Yann Seznec from Abertay University, Malath Abbas of Biome Collective, and Creative Scotland’s Creative Industries Team.
A series of talks, workshops and panels allowed practitioners to communicate their ideas, explore the importance of cultural game projects, to discuss the availability of funding and to showcase their wonderful work. We and our participants also had the opportunity to play a variety of fun new games developed by students at Abertay University.
Ending with a lively panel discussion, the day successfully celebrated games culture, provided practical advice and fired imaginations. We look forward to producing more of these events in the future!
This event was supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland funding, Edinburgh Futures Institute at the University of Edinburgh and Creative Europe MEDIA Desk UK.
